American Legion Restoration Committee
Post 26 - Mayfield, KY
Thank you for visiting the American Legion Restoration Fund website. We are a non-profit group of concerned citizens dedicated to the restoration and preservation of the American Legion Post #26 Building in Mayfield, KY. This facility, once known as the “Pearl Of The Purchase,” has been a fixture of Graves County, Kentucky for almost a century. Dedicated to the memory of our brave service men, the building is also a focal point for Western Kentucky culture and history.
Over the years, the Legion Building has fallen into a state of disrepair that is an unavoidable side affect of its age. The once magnificent structure that boasts meeting facilities and a theater with a capacity of just fewer than 1000 people is in need of large scale remodeling and renovation. As a testament to the superior craftsmanship of its builders, the facility is structurally sound and requires mostly cosmetic and electrical work. Nevertheless, in order to do the project justice and make it a fitting memorial to our veterans, much work must be done.
The restoration committee in conjunction with various other community groups and individuals, is currently working to address this issue. With your support, we are committed to seeing that the American Legion Building once again becomes a focal point of the community and a viable part of the economy of Western Kentucky. Please browse through our website and visit the donations section to find out how you can help preserve this valuable piece of our past, present, and future yet to come.
